Centre Announces Rs 26,000 Crore for Bihar Road Projects

On Tuesday, Centre announced budget of Rs 26,000 crore for various road projects in Bihar. In her 2024-25 Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that Union government will provide financial assistance to Bihar with help of multilateral development agencies. In addition to this, government also plans to establish new airports, medical colleges and sports infrastructure in Bihar.

The Centre will launch ‘Purvodaya,’ comprehensive development plan for Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Sitharaman also mentioned that an industrial corridor will be developed to boost growth in the eastern region. Furthermore, government will offer e-vouchers directly to 1 lakh students annually, with 3 percent interest subsidy on the loan amount.
