Stock Market Holiday: BSE and NSE are to remain closed today on account of Diwali Balipratipada

Today, November 14, 2023, the Indian stock market will remain closed to celebrate Diwali Balipratipada, trading will be suspended across the equity, derivatives, and SLB segments during this period. The currency derivatives market will also remain closed for the day.

In the commodity segment, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed in the first half and resume in the evening session around 5 p.m. Trading in the currency & interest rate derivatives segments will also be closed today.

Today is the first stock market holiday for November and another one is scheduled on November 27 for Gurunanak Jayanti. Looking ahead, markets will be closed on December 25 for Christmas.

Recapping Monday’s market performance, Nifty 50 closed at 19,443.55, a decrease of 82 points or 0.42%. Meanwhile, the Sensex closed with a loss of 326 points, or 0.50%, at 64,933.87. But mid and small-cap stocks outperformed the benchmarks, with the BSE Midcap index rising by 0.10% and the smallcap index ending with a nominal loss of 0.01%.

Adding to the recent market activities, a special one hour Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 12, marked the begining of Samvat 2080 during this session, both Indian benchmark indices gained, with the Nifty 50 closing 100 points or 0.52% higher at 19,525.55, and the Sensex ended at 65,259.45, up by 355 points or 0.55%. On Muhurat trading, 43 stocks in the Nifty 50 ended the session on a positive note.
